Kym Hampton has lived one dream through basketball and is now ready to
pursue another dream in the world of entertainment. Having completed her
13th season of professional basketball, Kym has begun to focus all her
efforts on "life after basketball". However, the transition
should be a natural one, because the world for Kym has always been her
natural stage.
As a graduate of Arizona State, not only did she receive her bachelors
degree in theatre, but will go down in the university's annals as one
of the most highly decorated hoop players to grace the Sun Devil's court.
After graduation, she began a 13-year stint overseas from 1985 to 1997,
playing in Spain, Italy, France and Japan.
Upon returning from overseas in 1997 and in the twilight of her basketball
career, Kym landed a modeling contract in fashion as well as cosmetics.
With a smile that can light up a room, Kym found herself in GLAMOUR and
ESSENCE magazines and this is only the beginning. Having just started
her careers, she already had the opportunity to work with photographers
like Francesco Scavullo and Daniel Green.
The multi-talented Hampton has also had the opportunity to grace the television
world during a guest appearance on the "Cosby Show" and as a
participant in the NBA celebrity week of "Wheel of Fortune".
She has been a spokesperson for the National Basketball Association's
(NBA) Store doing promotional spots that have aired on TNT, TBS, DIRECTTV
and PRIMESTAR.
Singing has always been a love of Kym's and she was a regular at nightclubs
overseas. Even before setting foot on Madison Square Garden's hardwood
as a player with the New York Liberty, Kym, before a sold-out crowd, performed
the National Anthem during a 1997 New York Knicks playoff game. Since
then she has performed the anthem several times at the Garden and is currently
working on her demo, which will launch her music career.
As the starting center for the New York Liberty for the past three years,
Kym continues her brilliant basketball career with the heart of a champion.
As a cornerstone of the franchise since the team's inception in 1997,
the New York Liberty advanced to the WNBA Finals two out of the past three
seasons and Kym Hampton is the current franchise record holder in rebounding.
